Robux 2026: what parents and children in Germany should know now

By Liska, has been playing Roblox and Murder Mystery 2 for almost three years

Robux are the in-game currency in Roblox, which makes them a topic in MM2 as well. Whether buying them is worth it depends on the budget, the safety settings and spotting the real traps.

Robux, the official in-game currency of Roblox, sit right at the top of many children’s wish lists in Germany. Whether topping up really pays off in 2026, and what traps are waiting along the way, was examined in detail in early July by Ad-hoc-news.de. Last checked: 4 July 2026.

What Robux mean in practice

Savings jar with coins: a child learning how to handle money

You do not buy Robux for one single purpose, you buy them for options: skins for the avatar, game passes in individual games, private servers. In Murder Mystery 2, for example, they unlock game passes that offer extra choices during play. Anyone who trades items in MM2 also notices quickly that Robux quietly serve as an unofficial yardstick.

In itself that is not a bad thing. Roblox is not a pure pay-to-win game. In MM2, Robux do not buy advantages that decide the game, the basic principle stays fair. The currency is mostly about cosmetics and convenience. That sets Roblox apart from many other free-to-play titles, and that is how it should be explained to children, too.

The catch with price transparency

This is where the real problem sits. You do not pay for an item directly, you buy Robux first and the item after that. How many euros that adds up to is easy to lose track of. According to Ad-hoc-news.de, consumer protection groups criticise exactly this missing price transparency. With children who have not yet developed a firm sense of what money is worth, it can lead to spending that nobody planned.

On top of that comes social pressure: when everyone in the friend group has the new game pass, saying no is hard. That is not a Roblox problem, but parents should know that this pressure is real in practice.

The biggest trap: promises of “free Robux”

On YouTube, TikTok and dubious websites there are hundreds of offers promising free Robux. Security experts and consumer protection authorities warn about it regularly: it is a scam. These sites and videos ask for the account login and then steal the account. Free Robux from unofficial sources do not exist.

If you want to protect your account, switch on two-factor authentication in the Roblox settings. It costs nothing and prevents most account takeovers. For children’s accounts in particular, this is not an optional tip but genuinely important.

Practical tips for parents

The safest way to buy Robux in Germany is to use prepaid cards from the shops (for example at the Rewe supermarkets or the electronics chains MediaMarkt and Saturn) instead of paying by card directly through the app store. That way the budget stays limited automatically, without anyone having to keep checking.

A firmly agreed monthly budget makes more sense than a blanket ban. Children who practise handling in-game currencies under supervision understand sooner how marketing inside games works. Ad-hoc-news.de sums it up like this: “informed guidance instead of blanket bans” is the most sensible approach. As a player, I can only agree.

What this means for MM2 traders

Anyone who trades actively in MM2 should understand that the Robux rate indirectly influences the way many items are valued. Our MM2 value list has current reference values for the common items. And if you want to be sure you are not going into an unfair swap, MM2 trading gives an honest explanation of what fair trading in MM2 looks like.
