How big is Roblox really? Who actually plays it, and how safe is all of it? Here are the most important numbers for 2026 in one place, and every single one has a source. We update this page when new official numbers come out (last checked on 31 August 2026).
How many people play Roblox?
- 123 million people open Roblox every day. That is the average for the second quarter of 2026 (April to June), the newest number Roblox has published itself. Together they spent 29 billion hours on the platform in those three months.
- The all time high was in autumn 2025 (the third quarter) with 151.5 million daily players. After that, Roblox brought in stricter age checks, and the number dropped by almost 30 million. At first that sounds like bad news. It is also a sign that the checks really do work.
- For Europe, outside analyses estimate roughly 25 to 34 million daily players. Roblox does not publish an exact official number for Europe.
How old are the players?
Of the users with a verified age, Roblox says:
| Age | Share |
|---|---|
| under 13 years | 36 percent |
| 13 to 17 years | 38 percent |
| 18 and older | 26 percent |
Important for understanding this table: it only covers the users whose age Roblox has actually checked. In the second quarter of 2026 that was a good half of all users worldwide (around 57 percent), and over 70 percent in the USA, the UK and Australia. For the rest, the unchecked users, there is no solid number. And older estimates from before the age checks cannot be compared with this.
So in this checked group, almost three quarters are children and teenagers. If you are a parent and think “it is all little kids” or “it is all grown ups”, both are wrong. Roblox is a mixed platform, and that is exactly why the settings matter so much. How to set them properly is explained in our guide Is Roblox safe for kids.
And in Germany? In the JIM study 2025 (the big yearly survey of 1,200 young people), 12 percent of 12 to 19 year olds name Roblox as their favourite game. That is third place behind Minecraft and Fortnite, and twice as many as the year before (6 percent).
Safety: the numbers behind the headlines
- The USK, the German age rating body, raised the age rating for Roblox from 12 to 16 at the start of 2025. The reasons given were open chats, purchase incentives and the very different content of the games inside the platform. Important to understand: the rating for the platform and the labels on the single games inside it are two different things. In the end, parents decide.
- Since the end of 2025, Roblox has asked for a face based age estimate for the chat functions, and worldwide since January 2026. According to Roblox, the pictures are deleted after the check. Roblox counts 145 new safety features since the start of 2025.
- Scams are still everyday risk number 1. A big security company counted more than 1.6 million attempted attacks around Roblox in one year, mostly fake free Robux offers. And in 2026 a gang was caught that had sold 610,000 stolen Roblox accounts. We show how to spot the most common tricks in our guide on spotting scams.
- Parents have built in tools: linked parent accounts, screen time limits, chat controls and spending alerts, which can be set from 100 dollars per month.
The money behind it
- Roblox made around 4.9 billion dollars in revenue in 2025, a good third more than the year before.
- Roblox paid out around 1.5 billion dollars in 2025 to the people who build games for Roblox.
- The 1,000 most successful developers recently earned 820,000 dollars a year on average, and the top 10 even more than 30 million. Honestly: those are the lottery winners of the platform. The vast majority of creators earn little or nothing, and that is exactly why nobody should start building games just for the money.
Where these numbers come from
The user numbers and money numbers come from the official Roblox quarterly reports to investors, most recently the Shareholder Letter for the second quarter of 2026 (PDF, English), plus the report for the first quarter of 2026 and the Roblox Economic Impact Report. The number for Germany comes from the JIM study 2025 by the Medienpädagogischer Forschungsverbund Südwest. The USK rating has been documented by GamesWirtschaft among others, the scam numbers come from Kaspersky, and the case of the stolen accounts from BleepingComputer. Details about the age check are on Roblox’s own page.
The Europe numbers are analyses from other companies, so they are given as a range on purpose. If an important number changes, we update this page.
