Are there free Robux codes? What is really behind free Robux promises

By Liska, has been playing Roblox and Murder Mystery 2 for almost three years

There are no free Robux codes, and Roblox says so itself. Why generators cannot work technically, how kids spot scam sites straight away, and what is actually possible the legitimate way.

Codes that credit free Robux to your account do not exist. Roblox says so in its own help section: there is no way to get free Robux, they are bought with real money on Roblox or earned as a creator. Roblox also states that there is no such thing as a Robux generator, so every offer of that kind is a scam. What does exist: promo codes for avatar items, Robux through gift cards or a subscription, and Robux you earn yourself.

You are right that codes work. Just not for Robux

Codes really do exist, but in three very different kinds. In-game codes are handed out by developers for their own game. They give game currency, pets or items, never Robux. Roblox promo codes are redeemed at roblox.com/promocodes. They give cosmetic avatar items and expire quickly. How redeeming works is explained on our page about Roblox codes. Gift card codes belong at roblox.com/redeem instead. They give credit or Robux, but they were paid for beforehand.

The technical reason a Robux generator cannot work

Your Robux balance sits on the servers of Roblox. Only Roblox changes it, and an outside website has no access there. The Roblox Terms of Use (version of 19 May 2026) list how Robux come into existence: a purchase from Roblox, a purchase made by another person, a subscription that includes Robux, trading virtual items, plus further ways that Roblox may introduce later. An external website is not on that list, and according to Roblox, third party providers are neither approved nor tolerated.

These are the tricks behind the promise

The typical sequence: you enter a username and the amount you want, a loading bar appears, then comes the “verification”. That is where the business starts: a survey, an app install, a browser extension or a phone number.

The login prompt is the more dangerous step. Roblox only asks for your password on its own login page, never inside a game and never on somebody else’s website. Some sites ask you to paste code into the developer console instead. That hands your session cookie to the attacker, who then gets into the account without the password, past two-step verification. Stage two often runs through Discord, with staff roles and supposed giveaway pots. Behind it are groups that resell stolen login details.

How to tell in five seconds whether a site is a scam

Roblox itself says where official promotions are announced: only on the Roblox blog, in the notifications in your account, or on a banner on roblox.com. Anything that arrives by Discord message or through a link from somewhere else fails that test. Second test: anyone who asks for a password, a cookie, a verification code or a phone number is out. Third test: anyone who makes you complete tasks before the reward is making money off you by passing your details on.

The web address of the page, on the other hand, tells you nothing. Free Robux pages regularly sit on servers of universities and government agencies, because upload forms there get abused (our own spot check, 08/2026). We describe the same pattern in the parents’ guide to spotting MM2 scams.

How you really get Robux

The usual route is a gift card, redeemed in a browser at roblox.com/redeem. Many of the cards sold in shops in Germany first add Roblox credit to the account, a money balance that you then convert into Robux yourself. Only cards that are pure Robux cards add Robux directly. The steps are on how to redeem a Roblox gift card.

With the subscription, two things changed in 2026. According to the Roblox help section (accessed 08/2026), Roblox Premium has not been available to new subscribers since 30 April 2026, and its successor is Roblox Plus. The basic subscription does not include monthly Robux. Those only come with the Plus 500, Plus 1000 and Plus 2000 bundles.

Robux can now also be transferred between users. Only someone with Plus can send them, and everyone involved has to have had their age verified. From 18 the transfer runs on its own, under 18 a linked parent account is needed and a parent approves every transfer. On top of that there are limits per day and per month. So a real Robux gift always happens inside Roblox, never through a website, even now that scammers use this new feature in their pitches.

Earning them yourself works through your own experiences and passes. From 30,000 Robux upwards, a payout through DevEx is possible (from age 13). Star Codes do not bring you extra Robux: you do not pay more and you get exactly the same amount, and five percent goes to the creator out of the share that Roblox keeps.

What parents do when the child has already entered details

First change the password, to one that is not used anywhere else. Then go to Settings, Security tab, switch on two-step verification (the authenticator app is the recommended option) and log out all other sessions there. Otherwise a stolen session cookie still counts as logged in.

After that, run a virus scan, remove unknown browser extensions, check the email address on the account and report what happened through the Roblox Report Abuse function. If a phone number was entered, ask your mobile provider to set up a block on third party charges (in Germany this is called a Drittanbietersperre, it stops outside companies from billing anything through your phone bill) and check two bills.

To be honest about it: Roblox guarantees neither the recovery of an account nor getting items or Robux back, and for support there is a window of 30 days. The settings for everyday use are on Is Roblox safe for kids.

Frequently asked questions

Are there Roblox codes for Robux?+

No. Roblox does not give away Robux for entering a code. There are three kinds of codes: in-game codes from developers (they give game currency or items), Roblox promo codes at roblox.com/promocodes (they give cosmetic avatar items) and gift card codes at roblox.com/redeem, which give credit or Robux but were paid for beforehand. Freely handed out codes that credit Robux do not exist.

Is a Robux generator dangerous if you only enter your username?+

Yes. Your username is publicly visible and unlocks nothing, it is only there for show. The dangerous part is the step after it: the supposed verification leads to surveys, app installs, browser extensions, a phone number or a login prompt. The Robux never arrive, because the balance is only ever changed on the servers of Roblox.

My child entered their Roblox password on a site like that, what now?+

First change the password, to one that is not used anywhere else. Then go to Settings, Security tab, switch on two-step verification and log out all other sessions there, otherwise a stolen session cookie stays valid. After that run a virus scan, check the browser extensions and the email address on the account, and report what happened through the Roblox Report Abuse function. Roblox does not guarantee that an account, items or Robux can be recovered.
